Introducing GWA Grows: Call For Guest Blog Posts

By Ann McCormick

These are exciting times for GWA members as we transform our public image to reflect what a great group we really are. As part of the many changes in the organization, I have been tasked by Kirk Brown to shepherd a new blog, GWA Grows, into publication. Through this new blog I want to make the open, friendly heart of this organization visible and accessible through first person accounts of the life of a garden communicator. GWA is a really great organization and I want the world to know this.

Now here’s where you come in. I am looking for GWA members like you to write guest blog posts. This is where you can get creative and talk about your life as a garden communicator. We want to hear about:

  • Problems we all encounter – finding time to write, speaking to difficult audiences, how to look for new trends and ideas, dealing with editors and publishers.
  • Funny or outrageous incidents – trials dealing with new technology, on-the-road disasters, crazy questions from readers.
  • Personal perspective and comments on GWA events – the fun, interesting trends you noticed, the tired feet, the camera battery that died at the wrong moment.
  • Useful Information from a personal slant – packing for the symposium, challenges with new technology, favorite research sources online, speaker’s travel tips.

This blog’s intended audience is current and prospective GWA members. It will be linked to the home page of the GWA website with a title, a short 2-3 sentence topic summary, and your picture and name. Clicking on this box will transfer the reader to your complete post plus links to prior posts.

We’re looking for 300-500 word posts to be published at least twice monthly. You are encouraged to include photos, videos, graphics, or memes to keep it visually appealing. We would also like a short, 2-3 sentence personal biography and link to your business website and/or SM site.

To get this blog started we need 10-15 submissions for the first half of this year. Our current plan is to publish twice monthly. If you are willing to contribute to this blog please contact me at ann@ann-mccormick.com with a suggested topic (or two or three) and a tentative date for publication.

Looking forward to hearing from you as GWA moves forward toward a bright future.

  1. Thank you, Ann, for taking the reins on this initiative. I believe that it will serve our members by adding unique individual voices to our corporate face. I can’t wait to see the photos and read the words of our great group of communicators!
