The 70th annual GWA Conference & Expo in Chicago this summer will include something new—a partnership with another trade show that offers news, sources and exposure.

#GWA2018 will be sharing exposition and education space at Navy Pier, August 13-16 with the IGC Show, the largest U.S. trade show for independent garden centers. Week 2 – The Importance of Networking

Communications Committee member Deb Wiley shares a few of the many GWA networking stories that have lead to book deals, awards, television appearances, professional opportunities, and meaningful friendships. There’s a unique networking story near the end of the video, too! Where do these magical interactions take place? On the trade show floor, in gardens, on tour buses, around fire pits, on social media … in short, just about everywhere. As Deb explains in the video, GWA is all about networking.

Deb Wiley, a writer, editor, and creative services project manager, joined GWA in 1999 and was honored as a Fellow in 2017. She gardens in Des Moines, Iowa, where she serves on the boards of the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden and The Brenton Arboretum and volunteers as a certified Master Gardener.

Week 1 – GWA Online Learning Tools and Resources

For those who want to grow their online audience, the process starts with writing great content, maximizing search engine optimization, and sharing that content via a great social media marketing plan. If all that sounds a little overwhelming, don’t fret! GWA has a great online tool to help! In this brief video, I show you where to find this resource and how you can use it to grow your online presence. You’ll also discover great tips on creating videos, maximizing your email list, and even improving your writing and speaking skills.
